BBC gets success at the Webbys

by David Allen

The Webby Awards are quite prestigious these days, and to take the one that is voted for by the public has to be one of the best, as there can be no talk of loyalties and preferences when there are juries involved.

This year’s awards will be given out in New York this June, and the BBC will be there to pick up a total of three awards.

The BBC World Service won a Webby for the radio section, while another radio channel, BBC Radio One took the Music Webby.

This was specifically for the “Meet the DJs”, but it was the BBC News Website which took the People’s Voice Award for the forth year running.

The Webbys are made up of several categories and there is the People’s Voice Award and the Webby Award.

The people’s voice award is voted for by the public, while the main award is always decided by a jury.
