Connection speeds halved in the evening

by David Allen

According to a recent survey by a broadband price comparison site, it has been found that most internet connection speeds are slowing down in the evening between 7 pm and 9 pm.

This peak time reduction in speed is being experienced by almost all broadband users no matter where they are located and is due to the amount of users being online at the same time.

Around seventy two thousand internet connections were tested over a period of time between January and May of this year. The results came out with some very interesting figures.

Between the hours of 7 pm and 9 pm the average broadband speed is something in the region of 2.5 Mbps, however the fastest connection speeds are found early in the morning.

This survey follows the recent survey by Ofcom who claim that the digital divide had all but disappeared.
