Zen Internet Best Broadband Provider of 2008

by David Allen

The prestigious Which? Awards of 2008 recently took place at the British Museum, but unlike most of the other awards, the Which? Awards are the ones that really stand out as being a true mark of success.

This is only the second event where the best products and services are celebrated in this manner.

There are altogether twelve categories but the one that we are interested in is Best Broadband Provider of 2008.

This was awarded to Zen Internet, simply because they are said to have made the whole experience of being with an ISP hassle free, or as hassle free as it could get.

They are constantly being awarded for the service that they provide, which not bad for one of the oldest and independently owned ISPs in the UK.

Zen Internet was followed by Waitrose and the Utility Warehouse as runner ups.

  1. Award seconded by the TW editor. :)

    I’ve used the following ISP’s:

BT: one big automatic machine that cut me off twice and threatened court action over a bill that didn’t even exist. Their call centre staff are poorly trained even on business services.

Pipex: Simply a joke on customer care, unless you enjoy 20 minutes holding for support, even on a premium business account.

Zen: I recommend them to everyone because they invest so much into customer care. It does cost more - but when things go wrong, you’ll usually have UK tech support speaking to you within 60 seconds.

  2. I too have been a Zen customer and found their server good. However I chose to sign up with be internet for speed requirements. I have not looked back since, be internet (in my opinion and many others I know) has the best customer service and greater download/upload speeds for a reasonable price.

  3. I was a loyal Zen customer for four years and I have to say that the broadband and customer service were both top notch. Having said that you pay top price for it and a recent change to 02 has left me with a faster connection, free AV software, equally good customer service and I’m now saving £20 a month……
