C & W making a bid for Thus

by David Allen

Thus is a little known telecom and broadband business, which actually owns better known Demon Internet.

Thus is standing fast and waiting for a bid from rival Cable and Wireless, which has already made some headway in trying to get Thus in their fold with a bid of £1.65 per share being the latest offer.

Thus was created from Scottish Power, as Scottish Power Telecommunications, but was re-branded for the better to Thus in 1999.

However, only three years later Thus was de-merged from the parent company to hold its own in the competitive telecommunications market.

Cable and Wireless already own just under thirty per cent.

They acquired this holding at £1.80 per share and it is assumed that they really do not want to pay more than that for the rest of the company.

Thus may not even accept a bid of £1.80 per share, as it is believed the company is looking at a price of £2.50 per share.

Whether Cable and Wireless is up to paying that amount is anyone’s guess.
