It is hard to ignore the “Press Red” logo that occasionally appears in the top corner of certain programmes on the BBC, and it’s a wonder who, if anyone, actually does press red.
But surprisingly the figures could be higher than anyone thought.
Eleven million people pressed the red button on the BBC every week during 2007/2008, while the previous year had a figure of just over ten million.
The rise has been related to the equal rise in analogue viewers switching to digital.
The BBCi red button offers features to viewers that have never been available to them before.
This is especially so when it comes to both sporting and music events.
They are now able to provide viewers with multiple feeds, something that makes the whole event very special and personal to the viewer, as they are able to choose where they go.
