Intel and Yahoo to build web TVs

by David Allen

When two giants associated with the internet team up to work on a project it is time to take notice, because we just know that they are going to be serious.

Chip maker Intel and Internet search giant Yahoo are getting together to bring the internet and TV together, thereby allowing users to be on the internet at the same time as they are watching their favourite TV programmes.

This idea is going to be called the Widget Channel, which will run in tandem with an information bar that sits at the bottom of the TV screen and will allow the user to access email and check out information services while watching TV.
