Cities get off lightly for Spam

by David Allen

Spam or junk emails have been around for so long now that it has almost become second nature that emails and spam go hand in hand, but in reality it should not be like that and to make things worse, according to a recent survey, some places are more likely to get spam than others.

The Top Ten places in the UK for spam are: Egham, Surrey; Alton, Hampshire; Petersfield, Hampshire; Sutton Coldfield, Midlands; Sutton, Greater London; Macclesfield, Cheshire; Dundee, Scotland; Bradford, West Yorkshire; Colchester, Essex; and St Peter’s Port, Guernsey.

Computer users in Fareham, Hampshire are the least likely to get spam emails. In fact, on average they are getting around two spam email messages per week.

It turns out that around one in six of every spam email actually starts off from the UK. The main places for spam to originate from are still the US, Russia and now China.
