Credit crunch forces shoppers online

October 13, 2008

Recent research that has been compiled for Eclipse has found that well over half of the UK shoppers this year are, for one reason or another, planning to spend less on presents this year for Christmas.

The high street is going to be just another victim of the global financial crisis that has turned the world on its head over the last couple of months or so.

The reason for this is that while fifty four per cent of the population are planning to spend less, a further ten per cent are planning to buy their gifts online.

This however is good news for those businesses with a good internet presence.

Customers will be looking for cheap prices and fast delivery this year and those companies had better be prepared to cope with the increase in sales.

With twenty per cent of the UK population going online for bargains, it seems that the internet will be the big winner over the festive period.
