ASA puts brakes on Virgin’s speed claims

David Allen -

Virgin Media are no strangers to mounting major advertising campaigns, but the latest one that used the quotes ‘Hate to Wait’ and ‘UK’s fastest broadband’ has been the subject of a Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) ruling.

As a result they can no longer claim to offer the fastest broadband service in the UK on their up-to-20 Mbps service.

In fact the ASA went on to say that to make sure that there is no further confusion over the speed of their service, the company will need to point out that broadband performance can be affected by the amount of users on the network at the same time.

Virgin Media are getting a reputation for being a repeat offender when it comes to the ASA and their advertising for broadband services.
