New DS2 Chipsets Used by NETGEAR

November 7, 2008

Spanish company DS2 has unveiled a new addition to its powerline communications portfolio.

The Aitana 200Mbps powerline chipset is to be integrated into NETGEAR’s Powerline HD Ethernet Adapter Kit (HDXB111) which will then turn any electrical outlet into a HD-streaming Ethernet connection.

This would make connections to multiple outlets throughout the house simple and effective without additional wiring and would be highly suitable for connection to PCs, DVRs and game consoles as well as being very useful for IPTV streaming.

NETGEAR believes that working with this DS2 chipset will give them the best quality UPA compliant technology.

At the moment this is the only technology that can integrate with Link Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD) and embedded software for TR-069 belongs to DS2.

The latest DS2 chipset has been built to produce consistent performance especially in the area of HD audio and video streaming for any digital media adapter.

In addition this new set is said to be around 12 times faster than the company’s previous efforts and utilises 256-bit AES encryption.
