Red button turn off for C4

by David Allen

It was only last week when the BBC were announcing how pleased they were with the success of the red button, so is must come as a surprise to find that Channel Four are about to stop using the red button on their terrestrial channel and mobile TV divisions.

The red button has been around for over ten years now, yet for Channel Four it has not been a great success, in fact it seems that the only real advertising campaign which could be counted as being successful was the Rimmel cosmetics adverts back in 2002.

The red button service will disappear from the screens of Channel Four on New Year’s Eve, 2008 bringing a long relationship between the TV and the remote control to an end.
