Virgin Media are claiming that nine out of ten broadband connection speed testers are not capable of measuring the high speed broadband services that they are planning to roll out.
The company has been comparing the different speed tests and has come to the conclusion that there is so far only one, which is capable of giving a proper reading, and that one is the one provided by thinkbroadband.com.
Virgin Media claim that the majority of speed testing websites do not have the bandwidth to cope with the high speeds as many of them are using a payload of just 750 Kb to test the speed of the broadband connection. Virgin Media believe that this is far too small to offer an accurate reading.
Maybe all speed testing websites should be able to measure all speeds up to 50 Mbps, even though the broadband user may not be getting anything near that speed.
