Spam levels set to rise

by David Allen

Anyone who has been getting huge amounts of spam for a long time may have noticed that there has been a reduction in spam messages, but this is not because of the filters that block spam, it is rather more subtle than that.

Recently an internet service provider called McColo was closed down. This happened because there were reasons to believe that they were helping the spammers send out all sorts of spam, some of which were not very nice at all.

After the shut down, the amount of spam on the internet dropped by around two thirds, but that was two weeks ago and of course now spam levels are on the rise again.

The level is low compared to what it used to be, but it is rising.

At the moment it is at about half the level of what it used to be although the figures do vary from source to source.
