Virgin Media 50 Mbps to launch today

Today is the day when there should be some announcement with regards to the long-awaited super fast broadband service from Virgin Media, that promises to offer broadband speeds of 50 Mbps.

It is believed that the cost is likely to be anything from £42 per month up to £50 per month, but what is more uncertain is the data usage.

The lower price would suggest a 10 Gb per day data limit, but more usage could be available at the higher price.

Once this service has been rolled out, around forty six per cent of households should be able to get the service, leaving over half of the country’s broadband users looking for alternatives.

At the moment only ten per cent of Virgin Media customers have gone for the highest priced option from the provider.

If this pattern is repeated with super fast broadband, then that should be enough to prove that there is a market for the service.
