If ever there was a prime example of how better broadband can improve business and therefore help the economy, is has to be the recent addition to the broadband network in Northern Ireland.
A £28 million contract has been awarded to cable laying company Hibernia Atlantic to connect Northern Ireland to the Atlantic cable from the US.
The connection will be twenty two miles long and will bring Northern Ireland up to the same levels of broadband connections as New York and London.
This will mean that local businesses will be able to compete on an international level for the first time.
Work on this project is due to be completed by March 2010.
