Virgin Media jumps on Kangaroo

January 12, 2009

Virgin Media was the latest company to join in with the call to have the Kangaroo project, planned by the BBC, ITV and Channel Four, shelved once and for all, at the Competition Commission’s hearing into the proposed launch of the service.

It was only last month that the Commission ruled that the project would have an adverse effect on competition.

It also said that it might have to introduce restrictions or rules governing how Kangaroo is run.

But with Joost, Bablegum and Virgin Media set against this project going ahead, the Competition Commission will find itself in a situation where, whatever they do, there will be complaints an appeals to cope with.
