Blusens HDTV Includes Sigma Chip Technology

In a boon to Sigma Designs’ processor-chip business, Blusens has announced it will be using the company’s chips for its new HDTV Home Entertainment Device.

Blusens’ new entertainment system was designed from the ground up to manage, distribute and reproduce audio-video content between several different sources.

What this means for the consumer is that they could receive content from the Blusens Blu Brain, such as music or streaming video, and access it from any of several devices, including their cell phones or computers.

Sigma Designs is a U.S.-based technology company that has focused primarily on computer processors since its founding in the early years of this century.

Rather than focusing on chips inside PCs, however, they have promoted their chips as powerful options for other electronics devices.

Ken Lowe, Sigma’s Vice-President of Strategic Marketing, says their chips are perfectly matched for the new Blusens device because they’re designed to operate inside high-definition electronics devices.

The decision from Blusens to use Sigma’s chip technology is yet another feather in Sigma Designs’ cap, following on the heels of the news that the Microsoft IPTV service will be using Sigma technology exclusively until at least 2010. (Read that story here)
