Sky predicts increase in subscribers

In these worrying times, it seems there are certain businesses that are set to gain from the public tightening their purse strings.

One such business is Sky TV, which sees the recession as an opportunity, rather than a problem.

The satellite provider is predicting that because people are now tending to stay at home, rather than going out for their entertainment, they are looking for alternatives, and it seems that broadband and satellite TV could benefit from the downturn.

In theory that would seem to be right, but with so many jobs on the line are people really going to commit to long term contracts and splash out on new equipment and installation, or are they going to wait and see what happens?
