Tiscali sale could be concluded by March

February 4, 2009

The proposed break up and sale of the internet service provider and telecoms company, Tiscali, seemed to go quiet for a little while, but now the Chief Executive Mario Rosso has broken the silence and spoken out about the sale.

Rosso told Reuters that the company is expecting to conclude the sale of the UK division by the end of March, which is a surprise considering that there have not been many takers for Tiscali UK since those who were interested walked away.

The favourites were BSkyB, Vodafone and the Carphone Warehouse, but even by the end of last year Tiscali put the value of the UK business at around £500 million, even though it was clear that none of the interested parties were willing to go anywhere near that price.
