For the first time, the BBC will be filming the sci-fi series Dr Who in high definition (HD).
Filming in this format will start with the Easter special instalment of the popular programme.
It is not known if the fifth series will be filmed in HD – this will probably depend on how the ‘Planet of Dead’ edition is received by the viewers, those who will actually watch it in HD anyhow.
Besides, the fifty series is not due to start filming until 2010.
There will of course be a Christmas special too, before the series is made, so a lot can happen in the time before the series returns to the BBC.
By then it is highly possible that HD will have gained enough fans to make it viable to use.
