Carphone Warehouse to cut 450 jobs

by David Allen

Communications retail group, the Carphone Warehouse, will be cutting around four hundred jobs from the company as it pays attention to outgoings and attempts to save cash.

How this will be worked out is yet to be determined by the management.

The Carphone Warehouse launched a free broadband service through its division TalkTalk.

This had been massively oversubscribed, causing the company serious problems when trying to connect its customers.

The company also failed to buy the UK division of struggling internet service provider Tiscali, a purchase that would have increased TalkTalk’s market share in the UK.

Carphone Warehouse has around two thousand four hundred stores in nine countries with a total staff of 21,400.

12,500 of these are based in the UK and 4,500 of them are office based.
