Kids are online longer than parents think

March 20, 2009

There have been many surveys on how much time people spend online, playing computer games and watching TV.

However, it seems that the numbers given by parents regarding the amount of time their children are spending online are severely underestimated.

Parents estimated that, on average, UK kids are spending around eighteen and a half hours per week online, when asked by security firm Symantec.

However, a recent survey carried out for the Norton Online Living Report found that kids in the UK are actually spending over forty three hours per week online – over twice as much as parents thought.

The UK now has the largest perception gap in the world when it comes to online activities.

Parents need to make an effort when it comes to the online activities of their children.
