Petrol station firm Murco Petroleum is updating its networking technology at 62 of its new forecourt retail outlets.
The company has chosen unified communications provider Timico to supply and manage the updated private wide area network (PWAN).
Using the new secure PWAN, Murco will be able to manage its growing network of retail sites across Britain.
Whereas forecourt management reports used to take at least two weeks to filter through to head office, the reports will now be entered directly into a central system.
Umar Bajwa, Murco’s UK networks manager, said: “Murco is expanding its presence in the non-fuel retailing sector and Timico’s ability to migrate these 62 new sites smoothly across to our core network means that they will be up and running with our bespoke online reporting procedures very quickly.
“The Timico network has made us much more efficient and allowed Murco to manage a large, and growing network without increasing its staff.”
He added that Timico was chosen because it understood Murco’s requirements, it could provide the secure IP infrastructure needed, and it offered the service at the best price.
Bajwa concluded: “Now that the Timico network is in place, Murco is well positioned to take advantage of further efficiencies and is looking at introducing an intranet, which will allow managers of the retail sites to download general and site specific information.”
