by David Allen

The Office of National Statistics uses what they call a typical shopping basket in order to gauge the cost of living and calculate inflation.

But recently there have been some changes with regards to the contents of the nation’s shopping basket, with some tech items being added to reflect the difference in the consumers’ buying habits.

Last year it was USB Flash Drives, while this year it is the Blu-ray disc that has found its way into the nation’s shopping basket.

This reflects the importance of technical products in today’s market.

Along with the Blu-ray discs, digital PMPs and Freeview set top boxes are also included.

Some tech items that are out of the shopping basket are the DVD and the Mp3 player.

How technology trends change over a matter of years!
