Half of Brits using VoD

March 24, 2009

The growth of video on demand has risen significantly over the past couple of years as services become readily available.

The iPlayer from the BBC and similar services from the other main terrestrial channels have meant that viewers can choose when they want to watch their favourite TV shows.

On average, nearly half of all the people in the UK are using video on demand services, according to a survey carried out by YouGov for the Association for Television Video on Demand (ATVOD).

The figure, when looked at more closely, shows twenty per cent of the population using VoD every week.

Because of its popularity, around three quarters of the population are aware of VoD and how they can use the TV, PC and laptop to access these services, although almost ninety per cent think that regulation of these services should be in the hands of the individual.
