Comverse has updated its visual voicemail service to be compatible with Blackberry smartphones.
Voice messages can now be delivered as text direct to a Blackberry’s inbox, complete with the voicemail’s date, time and length, and the user’s phone number and identity.
Clicking on the message text plays back the original voicemail message.
John Bunyan, Comverse’s chief marketing officer, believes that visual voicemail is good news for both mobile networks and their customers.
Mobile users can use voicemail to ‘save money and time’, Bunyan said, whilst networks can benefit from ‘a boost in customer satisfaction’ and ‘increases in voicemail usage’.
Bunyan added: “Comverse is already meeting the fast-paced needs of today’s users with more than half of the world’s visual voicemail deployments to date.”
Earlier this month, Google launched the beta version of its Google Voice voicemail-to-email service.
