Juniper unveils StreamScope video monitoring

April 3, 2009

Juniper this week unveiled StreamScope eRM, an integrated video monitoring and analysis product for its M and MX series of edge routers.

The tool is designed to allow network administrators to assess the quality of video streaming within a network.

Juniper said StreamScope eRM improves the scale and performance of video monitoring, whilst reducing monitoring costs.

Administrators can use the product to monitor the quality of MPEG video streams in real-time over cable, wireless, and IPTV networks.

StreamScope eRM integrates software from Triveni digital into the services processing engine of the M and MX serious routers.

This allows for quality issues to be identified at multiple levels, from the network layer through to the MPEG later.

The product also removes the need for a dedicated video monitoring appliance whilst at the same time improving the reliability of video monitoring.

Manoj Leelanivas, Juniper spokesperson, said: “Video monitoring is an increasingly critical capability for cable operators and IPTV and wireless providers, as customer expectations for high-quality video entertainment continue to grow.”

StreamScope eRM will officially be launched in the second half of 2009, price TBA.
