Freesat to add Teletext to EPG

by David Allen

Teletext will be adding a full digital service to the free to view satellite service Freesat during the third quarter of the year.

This move follows the closing down of analogue services over the next four years as the digital switchover continues to work its way around the country.

The Teletext service will concentrate on holidays and will eventually allow users to search and book holidays through their TV and look at other associated products too.

Freesat believes that by the time the Teletext service is available it will have an audience of around 1.8 million households.

The service will also help advertisers to upload more content such as images and product information, although eventually it is planning to allow advertisers to upload video too.
