Free AVG link scanner launched

The free security software company AVG is offering a new tool that scans links in order to find some of the estimated two million web pages that are infected with malware before its customers get infected.

It has been estimated that around sixty per cent of infected pages are closed down on a daily basis, but these are quickly replaced by newly infected pages.

This means that internet users can easily and quite unexpectedly become the victim of a malware attack.

However, providing that they have anti virus and malware software this should not affect their computers.

Billions of links to infected websites are sent out and these can be in the form of emails and on social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook.
