Internet TV broadcaster Livestation has added Dubai-based 24-hour news station, Al Arabiya, to its channel list.

Al Arabiya joins an already heavyweight line up of Arabic news channels on Livestation, which include Al Jazeera, BBC, France 24, Russia Today, and Euronews.

Matteo Berlucchi, Livestation CEO, said adding Al Arabiya as an official partner channel is part of an ongoing effort to widen the choice of perspectives available on the Livestation player.

“The addition of Al Arabiya to Livestation will ensure that Livestation continues to offer the widest breadth of perspectives and choice for the Arab speaking TV-over-broadband audience,” Berlucchi said.

He added that most Livestation viewers are loyal to a particular news channel, and will watch their preferred news channel for around 30 minutes a day.

However, when a big news story breaks, viewers will jump between news channels to get a variety of perspectives.

“The broadband audience is both loyal and fickle,” Berlucchi said.

Al Arabiya was set up in 2003 to rival popular Arabic news station Al Jazeera.

Middle Eastern audiences rate the channel as one of the top pan-Arab stations.
