Digital hubs funded in the UK

May 1, 2009

The Research Councils UK have announced that there will be three research hubs created in Aberdeen, Nottingham and Newcastle that will develop the technologies of the future.

The aim of this multi million pound initiative is to aid the Digital Britain plan and forge technology connections for everyone under the broadband for all project.

There are many other digital issues too, for hubs to work on, such as helping dementia sufferers to live independent lives and an emergency response system for the NHS; this will come in the form of a small wireless monitoring kit.

There are other technologies that will also benefit from the technology hubs, like early warning flood systems, transport support networks, and even personal sat navs for people who do not want to drive everywhere.
