Panasonic launches Freesat and Blu-ray DVR

May 19, 2009

The Freesat tuner and Blu-ray recorder by Panasonic has been called the Cadillac of convergence by the satellite equipment magazine, Home Cinema Choice, a true indication of the interest in the Freesat services.

The Panasonic DMR-BS850 offers the user all the benefits of the free-to-air satellite service from Freesat and the ability to record programmes too, although that is not necessarily so when it comes to the likes of ITV HD, as its broadcasts are “Copy Never” which prevents users from making copies on the Blu-ray recorder.

This is the first device on the UK market to offer Blu-ray recording, 500 Gb hard drive and twin Freesat tuners to allow the recording of one channel, while the user is watching a different one.

This is a great piece of equipment, panasonic lead the way in the AV world at the the moment, their current range offers excellent quality and convenience, it’s no surprise they are first to bring out a blu ray recorder.
