Funding secured for satellite broadband

May 26, 2009

A company which is looking to provide satellite broadband services to the UK, Avanti Communications Group, has been given the funding it requires, by the European Space Agency (ESA).

This funding will be used to look into the development of a new satellite system, which will be known as Hercules.

The 250,000 euro grant will be used by Avanti to come up with a viable plan, which will include providing a satellite broadband service to the UK.

Satellite broadband can fill in the gaps in the UK broadband network, and this technology can help the UK government’s Digital Britain plan become a reality, by offering broadband access to 2.5 million household located in the more remote areas of the UK.
