SurfKitchen has been nominated to the 2009 Meffy Awards for its upgrade to Orange Downloads that tripled sales of featured applications at the Orange mobile store in the first month of launch.

“Orange Downloads has been a phenomenal success,” said Michel Quazza, SurfKitchen’s chief executive.

“Using our mobile Internet platform technology, Orange was able to seamlessly upgrade Orange Downloads by adding a new mobile applications category that significantly increased sales.

“We are delighted that the results are being recognized by the Mobile Entertainment Forum.”

SurfKitchen’s upgrade to Orange Downloads is nominated for an award in the “Search & Discovery” category of the Meffy Awards.

Nominees in this category are judged on their ability to make mobile content easy to find, purchase, and popularise.

The Meffy Awards, organised by the Mobile Entertainment Forum, reward innovation and success in the mobile entertainment industry.

Launched in 2004, this year marks the sixth annual Meffy Awards ceremony.
