Endemol looking for stake in Setanta

by David Allen

The company responsible for Big Brother, Endemol, is taking an interest in the struggling satellite sports broadcaster Setanta.

With interest being shown from various parts of the media industry, there are concerns that a bid from Endemol could possibly mean that the sports channel could end up providing content that is not entirely consistent with sports.

This is because of the content that Endemol produces, such as TV reality shows and the like.

However, it is likely that Endemol will not come in and take Setanta as a whole, more likely it will be part of a consortium of buyers from different backgrounds and interests.

It will come down to what deals end up on the table and what the people behind Setanta are likely to accept.
