It seems that the remnants of the failed satellite sports broadcaster Setanta are going to be wiped off the BSkyB electronic programme guide (EPG), as the slots left vacant by the broadcaster are to be auctioned off.
It is estimated that the sale could bring in around £1 million in the latest stage of the break up of the sports channel.
The administrators Deloitte have appointed Canis Media, the firm behind the launch of LA Muscle TV and Ocean Finance TV, to manage the sale.
The Setanta EPG slots include Setanta News, Setanta Golf, Racing UK, Racing World, and the Arsenal, Celtic and Rangers TV channels, although there are, according to Canis Media, a number of unallocated slots available too.
This is an opportunity for sports broadcasters to see if any of these slots could help them move up the BSkyB EPG.
