Virgin Media donating cash as cricketers score fifty

July 23, 2009

As the England cricket team play for the Ashes once more, Virgin Media has seized upon this as an opportunity to raise some money for charity.

To help celebrate and market the completion of the Virgin Media up-to-50 Mbps broadband service, the firm will be donating £1,000 for every half century that an England batsman scores during the entire five match series.

In 2005, when England won the ashes, there were eighteen half centuries scored by the English batsman.

Whether that will be same or not is another matter, although in the last series the Australian batsman only managed fourteen half centuries.

Each batsman that scores a half century will be able to nominate which charity the money should go to, so there is added incentive there for the players too.
