The creator of the internet was?

by David Allen

Mention the creator of the internet and the name Tim Berners-Lee nearly always comes up.

He has been credited as the man that made the internet, as we know it possible.

However, as with many of these claims, there are always counterclaims.

One such counterclaim is about to go public with the publishing of a paper with the title “Who is the Father of the Internet? The case for Donald Davies”.

According to the report’s author, Trevor Harris, a lecturer in the Department of Film and Media at Lampeter University, Davies was one of three people who worked on packet switching during the 1960’s.

Donald Davies was working at the UK’s National Physical Laboratory, when the idea of packet switching was invented.

This technology went on to make the internet what it has become today.

The paper is to be published in the science journal, Mass Communication Research.
