Pace sees profits triple

July 28, 2009

The UK based set top box maker, Pace, is reporting a huge improvement in the first six months of the year, in fact profits have tripled on the previous year.

The economic downturn does not appear to be having a detrimental effect on the industry, in fact it would seem to be the opposite as the same time last year the company reported profits of £10.9 million, but for the first six months of this year, profits rose to £30.8 million.

During the first six months of 2009, Pace sold eight and half million set top boxes, compared to just under three million last year.

Out of interest, the amount of high definition set top boxes sold during the first half of the year increased to fifty seven per cent of all those sold by Pace, which shows that customers are not just looking for a basic pay TV package.
