Babelgum, a mobile and web content platform, and Funny or Die, an online video service, have agreed to a new wireless licensing agreement that will allow Funny or Die videos to play on mobile platforms exclusively owned by Babelgum.
The terms of the agreement state that all future Babelgum applications will include the content found on Funny or Die and a specific Babelgum Funny or Die application for the iPhone.
Outside of the mobile world, the Babelgum website will also premier new content from Funny or Die on its comedy channel after Funny or Die originally premiers it on its own website.
Babelgum now can also play old favourites from the Funny or Die website library.
CEO of Funny or Die, Dick Glover, said that the website is excited to be able to add its content to Babelgum’s wireless apps and that the company cannot think of any better web platform to display its content to mobile users globally than Babelgum.
Publisher of Babelgum’s Comedy Central, Amber Lawson, echoed the same thoughts, stating that the company is happy to gain access to the content on Funny or Die which helps cements its position as a trusted place to head for smart comedy options.
Funny or Die also recently reassigned its digital advertising sales contract choosing to use wOOt!media in place of Sky, which previously had the contract.
The comedy website is gaining fast on the internet with over 190,000 unique users in the last year alone in the UK and over 620,000 page views a month.
