3UK launches the MiFi Router

by David Allen

The mobile provider 3 UK has launched a device that it has named the MiFi.

It is a portable Wi-Fi router that is supposed to distribute the 3 UK mobile broadband service over a Wi-Fi link.

The device is powered by battery and is easy to set up, with no software required.

Once the device is turned on it will connect to the mobile internet using the Wi-Fi signal.

Any Wi-Fi enabled device will then automatically pick up the signal.

All that is required to connect is the eight digit network key, and this only needs to be set once for every device that the user wants to connect.

The MiFi is similar to a mobile broadband dongle, but instead of only being able to connect one device, it can connect as many devices as the user wants.

There is no information on cost etc, but it is expected to be ready for Christmas delivery.
