Liquid - the next gen EPG

As Macrovision changes its name to Rovi, the new company announces the launch of its new name for the next generation electronic programme guide (EPG).

Without this technology digital TV would not work but Liquid is worlds apart from what we have seen on Sky+, Sky+ HD and Freeview.

Liquid allows the user to find content from any source such as the internet, which is why companies like Sony are interested in the product.

Rovi has also announced a deal with Blockbuster on Demand, whose content could be easily integrated into the system.

As the electronics firm Samsung has also announced a deal with Blockbuster the whole thing could easily be tied up to form a new set top box that offers more than just a single source of content.
