PS3 to get improved iPlayer

by David Allen

The BBC has launched a new and improved version of the BBC iPlayer for the Sony PS3, which offers the user a much improved user interface, and a better quality of playback.

The PS3 user could already use the BBC iPlayer but needed to use the console’s browser, but with Sony allowing a link to the iPlayer.

So from now on there is going to be an iPlayer icon on the PS3’s media bar, which means a one click link to all of the BBC content waiting on the iPlayer to be viewed.

The PS3 has also been given a new version of flash for the console.

This means that the user can access on demand content that uses full support for H.264 content playback.
