Swansea completes digital switchover

by David Allen

Swansea has become the first city in Wales to completely switchover to digital TV as the analogue signal has now been completely switched off and the channel choice has gone from five to twenty.

The rest of Wales is going to have to wait, as the digital switchover will be working its way around the region until the final homes turn digital in March 2010.

According to Digital UK, around ninety per cent of households in Wales already receive digital TV through either Freeview, cable or satellite services, but that means ten percent do not, and there is less than seven months to go before the analogue signal in Wales is shut down.

The Digital UK switchover road show has been making its way around the Swansea area, but for anyone who requires help or advice there is a helpline - 08456 505050.
