The providers of digital TV in the UK will be bracing themselves, as the long awaited consultation on the future of on-demand digital TV services is published by the regulator Ofcom.
This consultation directly affects all of the main providers of on-demand TV services, including BT, Sky and Virgin Media.
Whatever the proposed changes in the provision of on demand services are, these will not be taking place until the 19th December, which is not that far away.
It has been proposed that the Advertising Standards Authority and the Association for Television on Demand should regulate on-demand services on Ofcom’s behalf.
TThe consultation still has until the 26th October to run.
According to Ofcom, on-demand TV is not expected to fall under the broadcasting code as other types of broadcasting do.
