The cable TV and broadband provider, Virgin Media, has chosen Cisco as its partner to support the firm’s IPTV distribution platform, and make improvements to the Virgin Media digital TV infrastructure as well.

The Cisco digital video headend technology will be deployed by Virgin Media at its regional and central headends.

It is expected that this will then allow the growth in both standard definition and high definition TV services, according to Virgin Media.

Once this work has been completed, it will mean that around 12.6 million households throughout the UK will be able to receive high quality digital services.

This is part of an ongoing deal between Virgin Media and Cisco UK, which will mean that customers will be able to look forward to different digital services in the future.
