SmartLabs, Cisco, and Bouygues join Open IPTV Forum

SmartLabs, Cisco, and Bouygues Telecom are the newest organisations to unite with the Open IPTV Forum to aid with the development of open specifications for IPTV based around current technologies and open standards.

Cisco provides Internet Protocol –based networking solutions to education, business, and home consumers.

SmartLabs LLC is a Russian leader in delivering a platform for interactive digital television, user interfaces for STBs, and innovative client applications.

They are a part of the large conglomerate ITG (Inline Technologies Group).

Buoygues Telecom specialises in Internet communications, mobile, and fixed TV as a communications provider.

Currently the company has over 9.7 million customers out of which 7.3 million are contracts.

Chair of the OIPF Yun Chao Hu, said that the addition of SmartLabs and Cisco will strengthen the forum’s representation in Russia and North America while the addition of Bouygues Telecom will continue to reinforce the large role that the Forum already plays in the IPTV markets.

At the moment the OIPF is working on developing a set of solutions and products that are based on the first set of standards produced by the Forum for end to end IPTV solutions which were released earlier in the year

The OIPFF will display the new technologies that they come up with and the different technologies that were created based on the Specifications set forth by Release 1.
