The world’s first end-to-end TV solution with 3D user interface is set to be displayed at the IBC.
The 3D solution is the combination of efforts by SoftAtHome, Orca Interactive, and Viaccess.
It allows service providers to shorten the amount of time it takes to market a new 3D user interface on hybrid networks, IPTV, and broadcast networks.
It also gives service providers a solution that allows PVR, personalization, live TV, VoD, and DLNA to be deployed with content protection and optimal performance.
The user face is one of the first battlefields for service providers that will help increase VOD, customer retention, and service revenues.
It works by integrating an already to go production set top box and the core IPTV components.
Each of the companies adds its own piece to create the 3D interface with Orca adding a service delivery platform, Viaccess adding cardless and car access, and SoftAtHome providing the operating platform.
CEO of Viaccess, Francois Moreau de Saint Martin said that he sees the new 3D user interface as something that will revolutionise the way people view TV and marks the beginning of a new market evolution.
In related news, Consona Corporation also announced yesterday that SoftAtHome’s new operating platform passed its interoperability test with the Broadband Forum CPE WAN Management protocol.
This means that the new platform is capable of providing scalable deployment of converged efficient services with the current broadband structure and will make it easy to activate, configure, and manage CPE devices from a network console.
