Nokia has announced that it has managed to use the new 4G LTE Network technology to make a simple phone call.
This may not seem to be anything spectacular because 4G LTE has been around for some time and demonstrated too.
However, voice services are the milestone which demonstrates that the software and commercial base stations are at the standards required for a viable service.
The call was able to be made though the Nokia Siemens Flexi Multiradio Base Station from the firm’s technology development department in Ulm, Germany.
In fact Nokia has recently released a modem capable of working on the LTE platform.
The RD 3 can achieve maximum speeds of up to 100 Mbps, and can support both HSPA and EDGE platforms.
