Team Sky gets four year licence

David Allen -

BSkyB’s plans to take on the world of sport have taken a massive step forward with the “Team Sky” cycle team being awarded a four year ProTour licence from the International Cycling Union (ICU).

Plans to bring home the “Tour de France” trophy depend on the team getting a wild card entry into the race next year.

However this will be down to the discretion of the race organisers, the Amaury Sports Organisation, but the licence is bound to help.

Team Sky is an excellent vehicle for BSkyB, not just to allow the satellite broadcaster to get involved in sport but because the words “Team Sky” will be mentioned all of the time that races are going on.
